I am pleased to write to you about one of Medgar Evers College’s most anticipated events, the 2021 National Black Writers Conference (NBWC) Biennial Symposium sponsored by the Center for Black Literature at Medgar Evers College, CUNY. In celebration of the lives of the late Paule Marshall and the late John A. Williams, and their significant contributions to American literature, the 2021 National Black Writers Conference Biennial Symposium will focus on these two Black literary legendsThe one-day symposium is entitled “They Cried I Am: The Life and Work of Paule Marshall and John A. Williams, Unsung Black Literary Voices.” Confirmed speakers include Carole Boyce-Davies, Tulivu-Donna Cumberbatch, Edwidge Danticat, Keith Gilyard, Maryemma Graham, Michael Anthony Green, Lawrence P. Jackson, Evan Marshall, Liza Jessie Peterson, Ishmael Reed, Linda Villarosa, and Mary Helen Washington. The symposium will be Saturday, March 27, 2021, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm EST and it will be presented virtually.
