THE COLLEGE LANGUAGE ASSOCIATION
STATEMENT ON THE 46TH PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT

The College Language Association (CLA) honors today's historic election of Joseph Biden as the 46th President and Kamala Harris as the first Black and Asian woman Vice President of the United States of America. CLA was founded at an HBCU, and as the first HBCU alumna elected to the position, VP Harris embodies the history of CLA not only in the multiplicity of her identity but also in the tenacity of her commitment to equality and justice. Finally, we also join in celebrating Dr. Jill Biden, a First Lady who celebrates and champions higher education as an English professor. As teachers and scholars, we celebrate this moment.
