The College Language Association Executive Committee, in partnership with Emory University, our Convention Host Institution, has been working to adjust our plans for the 81st Annual Convention. We appreciate your continued patience and support as we monitor the ongoing feedback from our members and from our Host Institution. We have made the difficult decision to postpone our National Convention until next year, April 5-8, 2023. We still plan to meet in Atlanta, Georgia, and we are excited to maintain our partnership with the Convention Hotel, The Westin Atlanta Perimeter North. Regarding proposals for 2022, panelists with approved abstracts will receive notification letters shortly, and we hope that you will plan to join us as presenters in 2023. An updated CFP will be distributed in late 2022 to provide an opportunity for additional presenters.

While we know that this postponement is disappointing, we are committed to remaining engaged with our membership throughout 2022. The program committee has developed a series of opportunities for members to engage with CLA, connect with one another, and showcase their scholarship. To that end, we are excited to announce the upcoming launch of CLA Member Circle, an online scholarly social community where active CLA members can share, search, and connect with other members by interest, network, forums, and more.

Additionally, active financial members are invited to join us for CLA Member Circle Presents, a regularly scheduled series of virtual events that will feature members’ work, provide opportunities for networking and mentoring, and enable us to gather together as a CLA community within the virtual space. We invite you to visit the CLA website for updates about the launch and the first event in February, a film screening of "BAM! Chicago's Black Arts Movement" and accompanying Film Panel scheduled for Thursday, February 24th at 7:30pm EST.
