2016 Study Abroad Scholarship Winners

These are winners of the 2015-16 Caroll Mills Young CLA Study Abroad Scholarship.

  • Ms. Chanel Moffitt was a Spanish major at Delaware State University. She was awarded the scholarship to spend the spring 2016 semester in Havana, Cuba, through the Cuban and Caribbean Studies Program of Abroad Programs International. Her CLA faculty sponsor was Dr. Adenike Marie Davidson. See a Power Point of Chanel’s experiences.
  • Ms. Brianna Williams was a junior with a major in accounting and a minor in music at Howard University. She was awarded the scholarship for a summer 2016 program at the University of Ghana through CIEE Study Abroad. She studied Ghanaian political economy and explored Ghana’s role in the Transatlantic Slave trade. She also learned about Ghanaian culture and studied the Twi language. Her CLA faculty sponsor for the application was Dr. Clément Akassi.  See a Power Point of Brianna’s experiences.
  • Ms. Mariah Henry was a junior with a major in international business and a concentration in information systems at Howard. She was awarded the scholarship to participate in the Intensive Spanish Program at the Universidad del Mar in Oaxaca, Mexico, in summer 2016. Her CLA faculty sponsor was Dr. Mercedes Tibbitts.
  • Mr. Brandon McClary was also a junior with a major in international business, with a minor in marketing. He was also awarded the scholarship to study Spanish this summer at the Universidad del Mar in Oaxaca. His CLA faculty sponsor was Dr. James Davis.
